A Classic Still Going Strong; The Muck Boot Hoser

Not too long ago I was asked to write a small review for a boot line called the Hoser Classic from the Muck Boot Company and I agreed but with a lot of hesitation. I have reviewed hundreds of styles and makes of boots that I didn’t think this was going to be anything spectacular. I was also revealed that this was by no means a new line of boots but rather an old one, that’s been around for a decade.

When my shiny brand new pair of Hoser boots arrived at my doorstep, I immediately noticed the quality of construction. The way that the sole and the rubber upper was blended and molded together as one was beautiful. Also on the boot was this nylon upper, which stretches and gives you that snug fit at the top.

When I was told that Muck Boots had reinvented the Hoser and promptly named it the Chore, they changed the look and feel, and the sales of the Hoser were still so strong that they continued to provide the boot to customers. This is a strong customer following. Remember when Coke updated their formula to compete with Pepsi and the people revolted so they had to continue the old formula under the “classic” name? Well, this wasn’t quite that media intense, but it is impressive.

Walking around in the boots for about twenty minutes or so, I was pleased to see there were no obvious pinch points, and nothing that was going to develop into a blister. I guess it’s because they are so flexible to begin with, there really is no break-in period for them. My initial thoughts about reviewing these line of Muck Boots were changed after spending some time with them, I really do like them. I’m going to continue to wear them.
